The Ripon Society
to visit Washington
to attend 25th
annual Cascade
Conference (May
19-21)
Mainstream
Republicans of
Washington bring
together Republican
leaders and national
experts to discuss
difficult issues at
annual conference
Presidential hopeful
Mitt Romney, U.S.
Senate candidate
Mike McGavick and
Washington State’s
top Republican
leaders will gather
near Seattle next
month for an
unprecedented,
candid assessment of
mainstream
Republicans.
“The 25th
anniversary of the
Cascade Conference
is a remarkable
opportunity to
re-energize the
Republican Party,”
said keynote speaker
and Chairman of the
Republican Governors
Association Mitt
Romney.
“This
is a chance to
discuss compelling
issues and trade
ideas with some of
the most inspiring
Republican leaders
who value fiscal
responsibility,
family, and a strong
partnership with the
people they serve.”
The landmark, two
and a half-day
conference offers an
impressive lineup of
Republican speakers,
including Governor
of Massachusetts
Mitt Romney, and
national experts on
the most provocative
issues -- such as
stem cell research,
intelligent design
and environmental
protection.
“We’re asking the
tough questions,”
said Conference
Chair and Co-host
Sam Reed. For
example, “Are
Mainstream
Republicans the core
of this party or
simply Republicans
in name only?”
Throughout the
conference, speakers
will recognize the
extraordinary– and
in some cases little
known
–accomplishments of
mainstream
republicans in
Washington State.
After meeting many
Washington
Republicans that
will be involved in
the Cascade
Conference including
Washington Secretary
of State Sam Reed at
last year’s NCSL
Conference in
Seattle, The Ripon
Society is proud to
sponsor breakfast on
Saturday, May 20,
featuring United
States Congressman
Dave Reichert. An
exclusive interview
with Congressman
Reichert is featured
in the April/May
2006 Ripon Forum.
